“What’s in a name?”
Hello! I’m Chou Xiong—yes, it’s a little unfamiliar at first (I’ve lost count of how many past teachers have stumbled over it). To help you out, it’s pronounced “sh-ooo” (Chou) and “see-young” (Xiong). I promise, you’ll master it in no time!
For a while, I considered adopting a Western name—maybe “Chloe X”—in hopes clients would find it easier and be more inclined to book. But then I realized that if they truly love my work, it’s because of my craft, not my name. So I proudly embrace my Hmong heritage and my given name. To all the clients who’ve taken the extra step to learn how to pronounce “Chou Xiong,” thank you—I’m honoured to work with you!
For those who know me, know that I can e quite shy at first, a challenge in this field. But I truly love building meaningful connections with others. I’ve been a photographer for over 10 years, inspired by various art forms and passionate about connecting people with art. It’s been an incredible privilege to be able to do this through my photography.
What I deeply value in this profession are the preservation of cherished memories, the power to evoke emotion through a photograph, and the trust people place in me to capture their most important moments. These are the core reasons I love what i do.
So let’s connect! Everyone has a unique story and my camera would love to capture yours!
